I asked Jon to take out two fireplaces and install a wood burning stove in one of their places. Jon arrived one evening to talk through the requirements, going into every specific detail to understand exactly what we wanted. He was careful to point out a number of safety features such as that a vent was needed in the wall, the exact size of the hearth and what not. He went outsize with a torch to evaluate the chimney, the roof type etc. Jon then sent a two page estimate detailing everything involved for a very reasonable fee. Each day on the job Jon rang to update us on progress, and when one part I had ordered did not arrive on time Jon made a number of calls on my behalf and I later learnt he had driven around to the courier co and to other shops to see if he could get it for me elsewhere. Even with all this detailed planning and discussion we still managed to be surprised and delighted with the final result – the place looks great, is much warmer and cleaner than before. The fireplace with was not replaced by a stove has a small shallow cubby hole in throw-back to the fireplace that had been there before, and the stove is great, really neat and smart. I’d been living with leaky gutters for a few years, since the snow and had a couple of quotes to take them down and replace with new gutters. This wasn’t in my budget so when a friend recommend Jon I decided to give him a go. Jon Came out to take a look and an hour later the gutters were fixed and haven’t leaked since! Since then I bought a shiny new garden shed (flat pack) and Jon cleared back the garden, layed a foundation and built it. He’s tiled the kitchen, cleaned the chimney and completed little repairs here and there about the house.
